Community Engagement

At CancerCare Manitoba, we depend on our partners, patients and families, and the public for support. We seek direction from all of these groups to provide the best possible care for the people of Manitoba. Our community engagement activities help us to assess the services we provide, plan new initiatives and change existing programs and shape our policies and procedures.

Patient & Family Engagement

At CancerCare Manitoba, patients and their families are at the very heart of our work. We strive to provide patient and family-centred health care, using an approach to planning and delivery that recognizes and respects patients and families as partners in the process.  There are many opportunities for people with lived experience to ensure that CancerCare Manitoba is truly focused on meeting their needs.

If you are interested in becoming involved in a formal way as a Patient & Family Advisor at CancerCare Manitoba please email VolunteerAdvisory@cancercare.mb.ca

Public Engagement

CancerCare Manitoba engages with various communities throughout Manitoba. Working with the public as well as specific community groups helps us to better understand the best way to provide care.  We have ongoing advisory committees including First Nations, Metis and Inuit Community Partnership Committee, Newcomers Advisory Committee, Frailty in Treatment Advisory, and The Manitoba Cancer Network to name a few. These groups often include Patient and Family Advisors, members of the public, other health care and community organizations working with a specific group of people.

Stakeholder Engagement

At CancerCare Manitoba, we work in partnership with a variety of organizations to help achieve our goals together. Our partnership with the Regional Health Authorities allows us to provide treatment and support to cancer patients and their families close to home.  We also partner with academic institutions to provide professional education and conduct research in collaboration with research institutes and funding agencies. We work with community groups to improve people’s understanding of cancer and improve access to programs and care. All the while we are seeking input and feedback from these groups and the people that they represent.
