My Cancer Experience: Ambulatory Oncology Patient Satisfaction Survey

You may have received a questionnaire from NRC Health. CancerCare Manitoba wants to provide the best possible service to our patients. To improve, we need to know what we are doing right and what may need to be changed. We depend on you to keep us informed. Your opinions are valuable to us.

CancerCare Manitoba has engaged NRC Health, an independent research company to survey a sample of patients who received treatment at CancerCare Manitoba to help us understand how we served you.

We would appreciate you taking time to complete the questionnaire and return it in the postage-paid envelope provided as soon as possible. If you are unable to respond for yourself, a relative or friend may respond on your behalf. Alternatively, the questionnaire may be completed online by following the instructions in the letter accompanying the questionnaire.

Although we have done our very best to prevent the questionnaire being sent to someone in error, please accept our sincere apology if this is the case. Please contact Epidemiology and Cancer Registry toll free at 1-877-787-1272 if you wish to be removed from the contact list for this study and/or future similar studies. If at any time you would like to speak to a CCMB Patient Representative, please feel free to call 204-787-2065.

Thank you for your time and help. Your effort will help us provide better care to all our patients.

Patient Self-Administered Financial Effects (PSAFE) – A Pan-Canadian Study of Cancer Patients’ Out-Of-Pocket Costs

You have been invited to take part in the Patient Self-Administered Financial Effects (PSAFE) study on out-of-pocket costs and other financial burdens important to cancer patients. The PSAFE Study Team are hoping to learn about your cancer-related expenses since your cancer diagnoses and see how these expenses may affect family finances. The costs included in this investigation are: medical costs, non-medical costs (travel, parking, daycare, etc.), and the impact of illness on ability to work. We are also hoping to understand your health insurance purchases and understand if additional insurance purchase would have been helpful in managing these costs.

By understanding the relationship between expense and province of service the findings from this research will provide new information that may facilitate improvement in patient and family financial burden.  Results will inform policy-makers at the provincial and institutional level, and may result in policy changes to mitigate some of these financial issues for patients and their families in the medium to long term.

Several other provinces are participating in this study. The survey is being coordinated by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

We would appreciate you taking time to complete the questionnaire. If you are unable to respond for yourself, a caregiver may respond on your behalf. You will be asked to complete the survey once with it taking approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

If at any time you would like to speak to a PSAFE study team member, please feel free to call toll-free at 1-855-524-1933.

Thank you for your time and help. Your effort will help us provide better care to all our patients.
