Urgent Cancer Care

June 26, 2020: Important Changes to Urgent Cancer Care Clinic

To better serve you, the Urgent Cancer Care Clinic is moving to an appointment based visit model. This change started on June 29, 2020.

The goal for this change is to have quick access to a health care provider by telephone to address and assess your concerns.

If an in-person visit is required, a time to attend will be provided for your visit, lessening your wait time to be seen.

If you or your family member are experiencing cancer or blood disorder treatment-related concerns and feel that you should be seen by a health care provider, please call the Cancer Helpline at 204-787-8900 to have your health concern assessed and to receive an appointment visit time, if required. Thank you.

Urgent Cancer Care meets the specialized needs of cancer patients experiencing cancer or treatment-related symptoms or side effects. The clinic reduces the need for patients to go to hospital emergency departments when in need of specialized cancer care.

Individuals diagnosed with cancer who have been patients at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) should call the Cancer Helpline if they are experiencing severe symptoms related to cancer or side effects of their treatment. Examples include high fever, severe vomiting, malaise, wound-care issues, dehydration, constipation, pain or other non-emergency symptoms. Expert staff are available to assist with the management of these symptoms or treatment side effects.
